New Washington State coach Ernie Kent says he feels like a waking bear, and that could be good news for the downtrodden Cougars. After four years away from coaching, Kent clearly is energized by being back on the sideline. ''I feel like a big bear who was in hibernation, and now it's time to come out and eat,'' said Kent, the former coach at Oregon. ''I think any coach that has coached 30-plus years needs a sabbatical,'' Kent said.Yahoo Sports - NCAA Men's Hoops - Washington St. Cougars News

''I'm very proud of my team, how we came out today,'' said Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon, who threw five touchdown passes. Terris Jones-Grigsby added 107 yards rushing for Arizona (6-1, 3-1), which was coming off an off week after losing to Southern California.Yahoo Sports - NCAA Football - Washington St. Cougars News

The big question when No. 15 Arizona (5-1, 2-1) visits Washington State (2-5, 1-3) on Saturday may be whether the Cougars can even slow the Wildcats down. Washington State defensive lineman Destiny Vaeao said a key to the game will be slowing down Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon, the No. 9 passer in the nation in total yards. We've got to get there and hunt him down.'' Washington State, meanwhile, leads the nation in passing behind senior quarterback Connor Halliday and a bevy of talented receivers. ''He is obviously a very talented guy and can make a lot of throws, but their wide receiver crew is really good,'' Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said.Yahoo Sports - NCAA Football - Washington St. Cougars News

With his banged-up and beleaguered secondary still trying to get healthy, California coach Sonny Dykes wouldn't mind getting a break in the schedule. The Golden Bears host No. 6 Oregon and Heisman Trophy contender Marcus Mariota on Friday in the first-ever college football game played at Levi's Stadium, home to the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. The Ducks (6-1, 3-1) have won five straight against the Bears and are positioning themselves to make another run at the Pac-12 championship behind their do-it-all quarterback while Cal is riding a three-game losing streak. Mariota has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards this season and has at least one touchdown pass in each of the 33 games he's played in at Oregon.Yahoo Sports - NCAA Football - Washington St. Cougars News
